Nook Charger
What is the Nook Charger and How Much Power Can it Provide?
The Nook charger power supply is an AC charger and it can provide up to .85A (850mA) @ 5VDC. The special charger circuitry must be taken in the Nook because it charges from the AC adapter or also possible with a USB port.
It does not matter how much current the charger can provide—the higher the current, the better the charger. The Nook would only take what it needs to function. The voltage needs to be standard for USB which the Nook charger and apple charger already are. If the current is below 850, there is a chance that the Nook will not charge especially if one is already low in battery.
Things to Remember Regarding the Nook Charger
1. The special charging circuitry for the Nook battery is the Nook itself. Remember that it is never the AC charger. This is true due to the fact that the Nook charger from the adaptor and with the use of the USB port. Therefore there is no need to worry about charging it from things other than the AC adapter that already comes with the Nook.
2. Use a standard USB port spec of is 5VDC @ .5A. Some of the latest computers will provide all kinds of USB ports.
3. The Nook Charger will charge from any adaptor that is made to charge a gadget from a standard USB port.
4. If your computer is not able to deliver enough amps that is around 500 milliamps then it would not charge, and there is also a chance that the same usb header inside the PC may be drawing more than what the header can support and there are also chances when the nook will power other devices. When this happens, use a different port, the one located away from other usb devices. If you can no longer find any ports on the computer, use a powered usb hub, one which has a different power supply.
5. Remember to never leave your computer on a power saving mode while you are charging or when the laptop is already running low on energy.
6. Some computers will automatically shut down the power to a port if it thinks that the device is not connected to it or when it is unable to recognize the device. This can occur due to certain viruses.
